The Story…

Root & River begins with an understanding that life carries an intelligence of its own.

Body, breath, sensation, movement, feeling, energy, awareness, and relationship are part of one living whole, continually informing and responding to one another.

The body is our doorway.

Through the body, we experience a kaleidoscope of human potential and possibility. We get to encounter our inner landscape and interact with the world around us. We create, relate, explore, and discover different ways of being and living.

We know joy and sorrow, disappointment and elation. We move through countless stories, relationships, changes, and expressions of what it means to be alive.

Root & River is one way of participating in this larger experience of life.

It is a way of being that emphasizes self-compassion and inquiry, acceptance and allowing, discernment and clarity. We learn to nurture our relationship with ourselves, deepen our participation with what is present, and discover new ways to express, create, and reinvent.

The body becomes not only a doorway into what is here, but into what else might become possible.

The Deeper Current

Beneath thought, identity, instinct, and the stories we experience is a deeper current of sensation, intuition, energy, knowing, and consciousness.

Root & River makes room for both the visible and the subtle, what can be named and what can only be sensed.

As we participate with this living ecology, we cultivate space, support, resilience, relationship, movement, attention, communication, participation, appropriate challenge, and time and pacing.

We tend to the quality of these conditions so that greater coherence, capacity, awareness, and expression can become available, opening into new possibility and potential.

Flourishing Expands What Becomes Possible

Flourishing is the orientation that runs through the work.

It is an acknowledgment of our growing capacity to participate more fully in life.

As capacity deepens, our range can widen. More becomes available to feel, experience, choose, create, relate, and express while remaining in relationship with what is present.

Flourishing also gives us greater resources for healing, meeting difficulty, exploring new possibilities, and participating in what life asks of us and what we choose to experience.

Healing can create ground for flourishing, and flourishing can, in turn, create greater capacity for healing and for the many other ways we choose to engage with life.

Root & River invites you to create, heal, and flourish through deeper participation. Together, we listen for the deeper current, cultivate the conditions, tend the pathways through which life moves, and discover what becomes possible from here.
